We aim to provide information, support and friendship to people with Down syndrome and their families in Galway City and County, working towards an improved quality of life with respect and acceptance of people with Down syndrome as valued members of their community.

We recognise the importance of early intervention and developing communication ability.

We aim to create opportunities for social and personal inclusion and integration across the age spectrum

Katie is qualified since 2012 / has taught junior infants/ senior infants/ 1st class/ 2nd class) in Scoil Shéamais Naofa, Bearna
Location best suited - city centre/ can travel to any of the city suburbs.

Post Primary Teachers Available as Tutors:
Katie teaches Maths and Irish/ Based in Cleggan, can work in the city in July/ willing to do online//not available week of July 20th

Fiona is a qualified resource teacher/ working in Our Lady's College Galway / PhD in education,a diploma in the teaching of resource students, A BSc and a Hdip in Ed / working as a resource teacher since 1999
Suited Locations - Moycullen/Knocknacarra/Barna

Sindy works in Our Lady’s College, Galway as SEN teacher /coordinator / went to St Joseph’s every wk as part of Facebuddies.
Completed a Speech and language course with HSE recently / teaches English and CSPE
Location best suited - Within a few Km's of either side of Barna or City

SNA's Available as Tutors:
Eva has Lots of experience subbing in Knocknacarra, Scoil Caitriona, Lakeview, St Joseph’s and St Pat’s school - City Based.

Down Syndrome Ireland A.G.M will now take place in Dublin on Saturday 19th September 2020.

With the stepping down of Liam Ahern as President, there are now two National Director positions available,
President and National Secretary.
Anyone interested in these positions or becoming a board member of DSI.

This change in our weather can make Life a little greyer.
Don't struggle on alone, our Counsellor is still here for you anytime, Free of Charge.

You can now see Mary Face to Face if that is what you prefer. The phone and the online option are also still available.

As we have to get used to a new way of life, the Summer holidays, end of schooling & changes to routine, etc
please take comfort in knowing that there is support available to you whenever the time is right for you,

feel that your young adult with DS could do with a listening ear
maybe it is Sibling of your child with DS that could do with talking things out with a neutral person.
