Fionn returned to The UN in New York City this month, after his speech on World Down Syndrome Day on government reform to improve the lives of people with Down
Syndrome.
Now, he and his father Jonathan are members of the Irish Delegation to COSP18, an
annual meeting for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
As well as attending meetings hosted by many countries, he shared his priorities with
Minister of State for Disability Hildegarde Naughton and Ambassador to the UN Fergal
Mythen.
Last year, Fionn co-authored a research paper on the UNCRPD, on a five-month fellowship with Harvard Law School.
Fionn says, “This was a brilliant opportunity for me to learn more about how the CRPD
can and should improve the lives of people with disabilities worldwide. It inspires me in
my own work.”
Just two weeks ago, Fionn was awarded Diversity and Inclusion Advocate, and Jonathan was
awarded Arts and Culture Advocate, in the Rémy Martin Irish Men of the Year Awards 2025
