We all need an excuse to celebrate (Virtually!)

Today Saturday 21st March 2020 is World Down Syndrome Day and we would love you to help us create some awareness by asking everyone you know to simply wear different coloured socks today.
We can do this if we all wear socks…BUT NOT JUST ANY SOCKS…brightly coloured socks, long socks, printed socks, and 1 sock…maybe even 3 socks for 3 chromosomes.

If you don’t normally wear socks then wear them.
The meaning behind wearing Lots of socks is that in humans, a cell nucleus contains 23 pairs of chromosomes. Half of these chromosomes come from one parent & half come from the other parent. A person with DS has one extra chromosome. Chromosome number 21 has 3 chromosomes instead of 2 making them unique.

This is why we always celebrate on the 21st of the 3rd!
Under the microscope, chromosomes look like socks!
“Lots of Socks” is acknowledged around the world as being associated with DS.
We want to get people talking about WDSD today because the feeling behind wearing Lots of  socks is that

We are all different, We are all human, We are all the same.

And never has this had more meaning

So get your socks on, take some Fun photos & send to us – simple as that (Ideas from last year below)
