Options For Second Level Education In Galway

The education committee of the Galway branch are aware that there is some concern regarding availability of second level school placements.

To get an initial “snapshot” of parental preference for second level school, we have attached a very brief survey for you to complete.

This decision may be imminent or at a future date – we understand that you may or may not know which second level school may be appropriate for your child, however I would ask you to complete the survey in any case indicating your preference for type of school at this point in time

This survey is relevant for all children regardless of whether attending mainstream or special school/class.

The education committee of the Galway branch are planning to meet a member of the department of education (SENO) along with the DSI Education Officer regarding the options and supports available to students transitioning from primary to second level school.

It is an initial indicator which the department of education can consider in planning for possible school placements taking account of the number of students already in primary schools.

We ask that you support our initiative by completing the survey – it will take no longer than 3 minutes of your time.

Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
