Part-Time Community Support Worker – East Galway

A female support worker is being sought for a role in supporting individual(s) in the community in East Galway. The duties involve, but are not limited, to assisting the individual(s) with independence, shadowing the individual(s) in employment/training, and/or supporting their participation in programmes/hobbies of interest, in navigating the local community, in using public transport and with personal care.

Candidate’s Minimum Requirements:
At the point of application, candidates must hold an appropriate recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability. QQI Level 5 or higher would be desirable. Ideally, the candidate should have experience in working with individuals with an intellectual disability in the community and in working on a one to one basis with individual(s), taking their lead for supporting the person from the individual’s own family. The successful candidate must be committed to the principle of inclusion of the person and the rights of the person being upheld; must demonstrate initiative in using practical skills to support the person to participate in their local and wider communities.

Confidentiality, trustworthiness and reliability are key requirements.
A full clean driving licence is essential and the successful candidate will be required to undergo Garda vetting, if not already vetted.
Experience:
Interested applicants should preferably have a minimum of one year’s experience in working with individuals with an intellectual disability. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate flexibility, have good communication skills, be fluent in English and have skills in the use of computer office software.
