Phone/online counselling for our members/Parents/Siblings/Carers or  online play therapy sessions for younger members is available free of charge & provided by a Qualified & Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Play therapist.

Dear Members,

We hope that you and all your family are well and managing with the restrictions still in place.
We at Down Syndrome Galway recognise the difficult circumstances that we are all living in at present.
In recognition of this and in trying to support our members as best we can, we have applied to redirect some funding we received from Healthy Ireland.
With this funding, we will now provide short term phone/online counselling and online play therapy sessions to those of you who need extra support at this time.
These sessions will be provided by a Qualified and Accredited Psychotherapist/Play therapist who has experience of working with persons with Down Syndrome and their family members.
If you are struggling at the moment and you need extra support and would like to avail of some counselling for yourself/teenager/Adult child or play therapy for a smaller child, please contact:
Mary Kilraine Hannon, Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Play Therapist
NB:  Let Mary know you are a member of Down Syndrome Galway and she will arrange a session for you free of charge.
You can also contact our Regional Resource Officer Maura Dolan on 0874211345 if you would like to know more about this service.

Please note for payment purposes and as the cost of the sessions are being covered by our Healthy Ireland Grant, Mary will need to confirm first with Maura that the person seeking support is a member of Down Syndrome Galway.

All enquiries will be dealt with in the strictest confidence and you can be assured that the committee WILL NOT be aware of the names of members who take up this service.
